Artist. Colorist. Painter.
I enjoy escaping with our local Plein Air group to paint on location for a few hours. I am drawn to a variety of subjects from urban-scapes to hill country landscapes. For the days not so pleasant outside, be it the Texas heat or winter winds, my easel and backlog of images offer a variety of painting challenges.
The process of painting is about capturing the mood in how the lights and shadows play across locations and environment. I am drawn to paint shapes created from the push and pull against each other. Each painting is a process of building forms and sculpting shape by defining light and shadow so that they evolve in a dynamic play of patterns, textures, and colors of landscapes and still life. So that each plein air painting becomes a snapshot of the moment. In the end, my work is an exploration of the subject and environment described by its opposite.
